Meet host Shalya Marsh!
Shalya Marsh is an accomplished artist and dedicated educator who lives and works in Morgantown, West Virginia. A native of upstate New York, she earned a BFA in ceramics from SUNY New Paltz and an MFA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 2016. She ran the Ceramics Technology & Production Facility and was the Myers Foundation Ceramic Research Associate at West Virginia University from 2017-2023 where she taught ceramics and digital technology. In addition to a rich exhibition record, Marsh has augmented her studio practice through participation in workshops and residencies, including at the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts, a Kiln God Residency at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, and the Lormina Salter Fellowship at Baltimore Clayworks.
Shalya is a dedicated educator with over two decades of experience. Her passion lies in merging traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology. Her innovative use of craft cutters for the development of ceramics surfaces has earned her acclaim in workshops and publications alike.
