Ashton Ludden (she/her) of Relay Ridge Collaborative Artist Space - Knoxville, TN

Ashton Ludden is a Kansas gal living & working in Knoxville, TN as an artist and educator. She has a BFA in Engraving Arts & Printmaking from Emporia State University and a MFA in Printmaking from the University of Tennessee. Ludden specializes in the traditional crafts of wood and metal hand-engraving, printmaking, sign painting, and weaving. Through these processes, she explores our shifting relationship to wildlife as the natural world becomes estranged through persistent human expansion and development.

Ludden is the co-founder, director, and artist at Relay Ridge, a collaborative artist space in Knoxville where fellow local artists have access to private studios, a gallery, and a community printshop. She is enthusiastic about sharing her artistic processes and has taught in various capacities at professional craft institutions such as Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, Penland School of Craft, and John C. Campbell Folk School.

Not only does she love sharing her expertise with established artists, but also teaches upcoming young artists through community driven programs such as TN Master Artist Apprenticeship Program, TN Governor’s School for the Arts, and Knoxville’s Community School for the Arts.

Guest at Bryn Perrott’s studio.
